Don Allard

Allard was a first round draft pick (fourth overall) of the Washington Redskins in the 1958 draft, which was the highest ever pick by a player from Bostn College until Matt Ryan in 2008.  Allard didn't play any regular season games with Washington, before coming to the CFL.  Allard was originally signed by the Ottawa Rough Riders, who traded him to Saskatchewan.  The Saskatchewan All-Time roster lists Allard for 1961, but he does not show up in the West statistics in 1961 and no game participation stats were kept in the West in 1961.  Allard played two games for Montreal in 1961 and then returned to the States to play for the New York Titans and the Boston Patriots of the AFL in 1961 and 1962. Don Allard passed away on May 4, 2002*.

* Some sources indicate Allard's date of death as April 4, 2002, but social security death records verified by the family list it as May 4, 2002.
