Paul Brule played both fullback and defensive back in a career that spanned five years from 1968 to 1972.  Brule played the first four years with Winnipeg, with his most productive year offensively coming in his rookie season with 13 carries and 5 pass receptions.  Brule also had an interception in that rookie season.  Defensively, Brule had a marvelous season in 1970 when he had 9 interceptions to rank third in the West and capture a West All-Star selection at defensive back.  Brule had another 4 interceptions in 1971 with Winnipeg before moving to Montreal for his final season.  With Montreal Brule had two more interceptions in just four games to raise his career total to 16.  Besides playing fullback and defensive back, Brule was also an excellent punt returner, averaing over seven yardsa return in his first three season - in an era where there was no blocking on punt returns.  Brule's best season returning punts was 1969 when he finished second in the West with 498 yards. Paul Brule was named to the St. Francis Xavier Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
