Campbell was a fourth round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers of the NFL in 1988. After his release from the Chargers, Campbell had a tryout with the Los Angelas Raiders in 1990. In 1991, Campbell was drafted by the New York / New Jersey Knights of the WLAF. Campbell joined the BC Lions as a free agent in July of 1991 and played one game before being released. Hamilton picked up Campbell in August of 1991 and he played 13 games for the Tiger-Cats.
