Junior Edge played college football at North Carolina and came to the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1964 where he played two games. There wasn't much of a future for Edge in Ottawa with Russ Jackson at quarterback, so Edge moved on to Edmonton in 1965, but was released before hte season started. From Edmonton, Edge went on to play for Grand Rapids in the Professioanal Football League of Ameria where a broken arm ended his season. Edge had a tryout with Green Bay of the NFL in 1966, but was released. Edge finished his career playing for the Norfolk Neptunes from 1966 to 1970 in the Continental Football League and later the Atlantic Coast Football League.
