Andre Francis signed as a free agent with Montreal in February, 1983 and recorded 5 interceptions in his rookie season in 1983.  Francis recorded another 3 interceptions in his second year with the Als in 1984, but was traded to Saskatchewan partway through the 1985 season in September for a third round draft pick in the CFL College Draft.  Francis played only one game for the Riders before being released.  Francis then signed with the BC Lions in August, 1986 where he played for 3 seasons from 1986 to 1988 where he recorded 14 interceptions, including a new career high of 7 in 1988.  Francis was then part of a mega deal with Edmonton in which he was traded to Edmonton along with linebacker Jeff Braswell, running back Reggie Taylor, linebacker Greg Stumon, wide receiver Jim Sandusky and a first round pick for quarterback Matt Dunnigan.  Francis played two years in Edmonton, recording 12 interceptions in those two years and winning West All-Star honours in both years.  Francis became a free agent after 1991 and signed with Ottawa for 1992.  The Rough Riders released Francis in June of 1993, and he signed with BC for the second time in August of 1992.  Francis had 5 interceptions with the Lions in just 14 games in 1992, and then set a new career high with 8 picks in 1993.  Francis returned to Ottawa in 1994 as a free agent in 1994 for his final sason where he recorded another 3 interceptions to boost his career total to 51.
