Farrell Funston

Farrell Funston was an eleventh round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 1958.  He came north to the CFL in 1959 and played eight years for Winnipeg as a wide receiver and linebacker.  Funston didn't see the ball too much on offense in his first two seasons with 12 catches in 1959 and 18 in 1960, but he he had a breakout year in 1961.  That year, Funston led the West in receptions and receiving yards with 47 caches for 892 yards, and was named a Western All-Star.  Funston had only 21 catches in 1962, but bounced back with his best season of his career in 1963 with 60 catches for 835 yards to win his second West All-Star honour.  Injuries limited Funston to just 4 games in 1964, though he had 14 catches in those few games.  Playing all 16 games in 1965, Funston had 37 catches and then in his final season in 1966, had 11 catches in 5 games.
