Dave King

   
   

Dave King was born in Toronto and attended Danforth Tech in Toronto.  King played junior football with the Parkdale Lions junior team before moving on to the ORFU with Toronto Balmy Beach n 1955.  King played for the Kitchener Waterloo Dutchmen in 1957 and was named their MVP as a two way halfback.  The coach of the Dutchmen, Harvey Johnson, joined the Alouettes in 1958 as an assistant to Peahead Walker and King was one of the players he took with him to Montreal.  King wold play three seasons (1958-60) with the Alouettes before injuries forced him to retire. While Peaheadf Walker was not overly fond of Canadians, an injury to Hal Patterson in 1958 gave King a chance to play a fair amount on defence.  A knee injury in 1959 cost King half the season, and he finally had to call it quits due to the bad knee when the Alouettes released him just prior to the start of tghe 1961 season.

After his playing career was over, King remained in Montreal became involved in coaching at the University of Montreal alongside other former Alouettes.  King would remain as head coach of the University of Montreal for 8 years and would also coach at Sir George Williams.  Dave King is also a past president of the Montreal Alouettes alumni. While with the Alouettes, King started working at the Montreal Gazette, where he stayedfor 13 years.  After that King operated his own very successful business (Lithe Associates) for another 30 years.
