Rocco Romano

Rocco Romano travelled a fair amount in his early career, playing for five teams in his frist four years, but then he settled down for a nine year stretch n Calgary and ended up in the Hall of Fame.  Romano was a first round draft pick (fifth overall) by the Calgary Stampeders in the 1987 CFL College draft.  After the 1987 season, Romano was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for WR Tony Dennis, but did not play any game for the Riders before being released in September, 1988.  Toronto signed Romano as a free agent later in September, and he played 5 games for the Argos in 1988 before being released in November.  Next stop was Ottawa, where romano signed as a free aent for the 1989 season. The whirlwind tour of the CFL continued when Romano was traded to BC in 1990 along with offensive lineman Richard McCrory and running back Chris Skinner for offensive lineman Rob Smith.  Romano played two years (1990 and 1991) with the Lions.  In April of 1992, Romano was traded to Calgary along with the rights to Jamie Crysdale for Quarterback Danny Barrett.   In his second stint with the Stampeders, Romano stayed nine years, finishing his career in 2000.  In that nine year stint, Romano won six West / North division All-Stars (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1999), 5 CFL All-Stars (1992, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1996), and winning the Outstanding Offensive Lineman in the West twic in 1994 and 1996 - which also means he was the runner-up twice for the CFL award.
