Running had tryouts with the Houston Oilers (1996), Carolina Panthers (1997) and Indianapolis Colts (1998) in the NFL. Signed with Winnipeg in the CFL in September of 1998.Traded by Winnipeg to Toronto on March 1, 1999 along with RB Eric Blound and two players off the Bomber negotiation list for QB Kerwin Bell and RB Reggie Swinton. Released by Toronto on September 30, 1999. The Bombers resigned Running in March of 2000, but he was released before playing any more games for them.
