Elijah Thurmon came to the CFL out of Howard, signing as a free agent with Saskatchewan for the 2004 season. Previous to that, Thurmon had tryouts with Philadelphia, Oakland and Chicago in the NFL as well as spending time with Berlin in NFL Europe. Thurmon had a strong rookie season with the Riders, collecting 50 catches for 620 yards. 2005 was even better for Thurmon as he captured a West All-Star on the basis of 88 catches for 1048 yards. Thurmon became a free agent after 2005 and signed with Calgary where his numbers fell off a bit to 57 catches for 725 yards. Thurmon signed as a free agent with Montreal for the 2007 season and bounced back with 67 catches and just missing the thousand yard mark with 926 yards. Thurmon started the 2008 season with Montreal, but did not get into a regular season game with the Als before being being released - ironically in favour of a former Saskatchewan team mate Jamal Richardson.
