Pete Van Valkenberg

Pete Van Valkenberg played at Brigham Young from 1969 to 1972 and was drafted in the third round of the 1972 NFL college draft by the New Orleans Saints.  Van Valkenberg played 3 years in the NFL, 1973 with Buffalo, 1974 with Chicago and 1975 with Green Bay.  Van Valkenberg saw limited action, dressing for 25 total games in the three years with just two rushing attempts.

  Van Valkenberg joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1976 with the almost impossible task of tring to replace the retired George Reed.  Van Valkenberg lasted only 12 games in lone season. His rushing totals were not bad (572 yards) and his receiving was actually quite good with 43 catches for 421 yards, but he was no George Reed.
