Bill Van Burkleo

Bill Van Burkleo was a talented and versatile player for his seven years in the CFL from 1966 to 1972. Van Burkleo played mainly as a defensive back, collecting 17 interceptions in his career, but he also served as the backup quarterback and the team punter. Van Burkleo started his CFL career in Toronto in 1966 and mthen moved onto Winnipeg in 1967. With the Bombers, Ban Burkleo got his longest shot at quarterback, spelling off the great Ken Ploen when he was injured. Van Burkleo went on to play three years (1968-70) for Ottawa where with Russ Jackson at at quarterback, Van Burkleo was used mainly as a defensive back. Van Burkleo finished his career with one year each in Calgary in 1971 and Hamilton in 1972.
