George Allen

While George Allen is best known for his highly successful NFL coaching career, he did have a brief association with the CFL. In February of 1982, Allen was hired by Montreal Alouette owner Nelson Skalbania to be the President of the Alouettes. Montreal had just gone through a horrible year in 1981 and the addition of Allen was supposed to be a step towards rebuilding the team. Unfortunately, Skalbania's financial empire collapsed and the Alouette franchise was thrown into chaos as the league scrambled to find a new owner for the team. Eventually, t he Alouettes would be reborn as the Concordes for a few seasons, but Allen had thought better of his involvement and in April of 1982, he resigned as team Prresident after just two months on the job.
