Edmond Ricard

In 1982, Edmond ricard was a highly successful businessman in Montreal. He was the President and CEO of Imasco (the parent company of Imperial Tobacco), and servied on the board of numerous other corporations. The Montreal Alouettes were in serious trouble after a disasterous 1981 season. Flamboyant owner Nelson Skalbania surrendered the team to the CFL when his financial empire crumbled d Charles Bronfman, from Seagrams and the Monteal Expos, stepped in to buy the franchise and maintain a CFL team in Montreal. One of the first people rfecruited by Bronfman to help with the football club was Edmon Ricard. Ricard became Chairman of the Board for the renamed montreal Concordes franchisde and brought Imasco on board as a sponsor for the team and later a part owner as well. The Montreal media guide (2012) lists Ricard as the team President for 1984 and 1985. While Ricard did not officially hold that title (according to the CFL Facts & Figures and Montreal media guies), but Ricard seems to have been the de facto President after Ricard had a dispute with President Sam Etcheverry. Ricard fired Etcheverry in July, 1983. The official title of President was not used again until Norm Kimball in 1986.
