Val Belcher

Val Belcher was a big Texan. He was born in Houston, Texas, attended the University of Houston and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1977. Belcher had a relatively short career in the CFL for an offensive lineman, playing six years from 1979 to 1984 for Ottawa and Winnipg.  In those six years, however, Belcher won three East All-Stars (1980, 1981 and 1982) as well as CFL All-Stars in those years.  Belcher was also the Ottawa nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive lineman in 1979, 1980 and 1981. After retiring from football, Belcher remained in Ottawa and was well know for the restaurants he owned and operated. Val Belcher passed away on September 12, 2010.
