[Thomas V. Cates]
Tom Cates played college football at the University of Minnesota for four seasons from 1943 to 1946, and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. In 1947, Cates joined the Montreal Alouettes where he played in all 12 games for the Als. Cates scored 11 points for the Alouettes, on two touchdowns (5 points each then) and a convert. Tom Cates passed away on September 19, 2005.
