Collins was a first rounddraft pick of the NFL Atlanta Falcons in 1989. Collins had a very good rookie season with Atlanta, snagging 58 catches for 862 yards. HIs stats droopped off over the next two seasons with Atlanta and e was was traded to Cleveland and then Green Bay. Winnipeg signed Collins as a free agent in May of 1995, but released him in July after he played just two games. Collins was signed by the expansion Memphis Mad Dogs in August of that year. After the folding of the U.S. based teams, Collinsw as selected in the fifth round of the dispersal draft by Saskatchewan, but never played any games for the Riders.
