Tyron Gray

When the speedy Tyron Gray arrived in BC to play with the Lions in 1979, they weren't sure where best to use him. Gray ended up catching 22 passes in 6 games on offense and recording a pair of interceptions on defense. Gray was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL in the 12th round of the 1980 NFL draft. Gray played with the Lions for four seasons from 1979 to 1982 before movingto Ottawa for 1983 and then splitting his final season between Ottawa and Saskatchewan. After that initial year, offense became Gray's spot and he became one of the best deep threats in the league. While Gray never threatened for the most catches in the league, he averaged over 20 yards a catch four times in his career. Gray's best season came in 1981 when he had 63 catches for 1428 yards and 9 touchdowns to win a West All-Star selection.
