Gerry Hogan

Gerry Hogan was born in Montreal, played football at West Hill High School in Montreal and went to university at McGill in Montreal, so he naturally ended up playing for the Montreal Alouettes.  Hogan was the MVP of the freshman McGill team, but was not eligible academically for the varsity team and ended up joining the Alouettes in 1954.  Hogan played four seasons (1954-57) with the Als, dressing in a total of 16 games. Hogan played special teams and backd up on the line, though under coach Peahead Walker, Hogan and other Canadians didn't see much action.  Hogan was with the Als for three Grey Cup losses to Edmonton in his first three seasons.  Hogan was released by the Alouettes prior to the start of the 1958 season.  Hogan would go on to be an assistant coach with the N.D.G. Maple Leafs, the junior team from the area of Montreal where he was born.  Hogan can be forgiven for having a bit of a complex where it comes to Edmonton football teams as he was with the N.D.G. Maple Leafs when they lost three junior titles to the Edmonton Huskies.
