Raghib (Rocket) Ismail was a fourth round draft pick of the LA Raiders of the NFL, but signed with the Argos.  The Argos under the new ownership of Bruce McNall, John Candy and Wayne Gretzky wanted a flashy star t o atttract fan interest, and Rocket Ismail was their choice.  Ismail brought his blinding speed to the CFL and in his rookie season caught 64 passes for 1300 yards while 786 yards on kickoff returns and 602 on punt returns.  Ismail was the runner-up as the Oustanding rookie and was named to the CFL All-Star team both as  wide receiver and for special teams.  In 1991, Ismail's receiving stats dropped to 36 for 651 yards, but he had 1139 yards on kickoff returns and 614 yards on punt returns to take East honours at special teams.  After the 1992 season, Ismail signed with the LA Raiders and spent nine seasons in the NFL with Los Angeleas / Oakland, Carolina and Dallas.  Ismail's best NFL seasons came in 1998 and 1999 as he had over a thousand yards receiving in both.
