Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly had a brilliant 9 year career with Edmonton from 1979 to 1987, winning 6 All-Canadian All-Star awards.  Kelly started his career in 1979 by winning the Outstanding Rookie Award with 61 catches and 1098 yards.  In his career, Kelly racked up 6 one thousand plus yard seasons, , missing in two other seasons only because of injuries.  He had 922 yards in only 12 games in 1980 and had 801 yards in just 9 games in 1982.  Kely's best season was 1983 when he racked up 104 catches for 1812 yards.  One thing t hat marked Kelly's entire career was his very high yards per catch, twice averaging over 20 yards a catch.  In his final season, Kelly had 68 catches for 1626 yards and an average of 23.9 yars per catch.  Talk about going out while still on top of your game!  Brian Kelly was named to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
