Earl Lunsford

Lunsford played six seasons in the CFL, all with the Calgary Stampeders as a fullback..  Lunsford joined the Stmps in 1956 from Oklahoma State and ran for over 1000 yards in his rookie season. Lunsford missed the next two seasons (1957 and 1958) as he was served with the U.S. military.  Returning to Calgary in 1959, Lunsford picked up where he left off, rushing for over 1000 yards.  In fact, Lunsford ran for over 1000 yards in 5 of his 6 CFL seasons, missing only in his final season in 1963.  Lunsford's best season came in 1961 when he carried the ball 296 times for 1794 yards and ten touchdowns though he lost to to the great Bernie Faloney of Hamilton for the Outstanding Player Award .  Lunsford was a three time Western All-Star in 1960, 61 and 62 (there were no All-anadians until 1962).  After his retirement, Lunsford stayed involved in football in Canada, serving as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers GM for 15 seasons.
