Francis (Bubba) Marriott

"

Marriott was a Troy University Trojans (Alabama)  quarterback from  1957-1960 and a 1960 All-American selection. Born in Foley AL, Marriott was with the New York Giants (undrafted) taxi squad in 1961 and1962, but was never placed on the active roster. On  July 29, 1963 he was brought to the Alouettes as in a backup role as insurance with incumbent starting quarterback Sandy Stephens experiencing problems.  However, Marriott's 10 interceptions and 1 TD in 81 attempts and a poor training camp the following year led to his release on July 31, 1964. Marriott went on to be the player-coach with Montreal Rifles and Head Coach / GM of Toronto Rifles of the Continental Football League. After the Continental league folded Marriott was named the 1973 coach of the year in the Northern Football Conference while coaching the Bramalea Satellites.
