The third time was the charm for Mike McIntyre. The University of New Brunswick graduate tried out with the Ottawa Rough Riders as a free agent in 1981 and was released before the season started. McIntyre's second try came with the Toronto Argonauts in 1982, who also released him prior to the start of the season. Finally, in August of 1982 McIntyre was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he stuck for three years (1982-84). In fact, McIntyre recorded 5 interceptions in just 11 games in that rookie season. McIntyre had two interceptions in each of the following two season with Hamilton before being released prior to the start of the 1985 season. McIntyre was picked up by the first team he tried out for, the Ottawa Rough Riders, where he played for another three seasons (1985-87), adding two more interceptions to bring his career total to 11.
