Russ Wheaton was a tackle (or a middle wing in the terminology of the day) who started his career with the Montreal Westmounts of the ORFU in 1939. In 1941, Wheaton played for the Montreal Bulldogs and during the war played for the Lachine Airmen in 1943. After the war Wheaton played one game with the Montreal Alouettes in their first season of play in 1946..
