Wicklum was a first round draft bpick of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 1988 CFL college draft. Wicklum had a strong rookie season with 34 tackles and 4 sacks, but was obtained by Calgary prior to the 1989 season in an equalization draft. Wicklum plalyed three years for the Stampeders from 1989 to 1991 mainly on special teams and as a back-up linebacker.
