Coming out of little known Morgan State, Mark Young had an impressive rookie season in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes in 1983. Young recorded 7 interceptions to lead the East and was named to the East All-Star team. In 1983, Young was released by Montreal partway through the season and signed as a free agent by Hamilton. In that split season, Young recorded 3 interceptions in just 11 games. Young played just 6 games for Hamilton in his third and final season in 1984, recording one more interception to bring his career total to 11.
