FRANCHISES FOLDING : After the 1981 season the Montreal Alouettes folded. The CFL granted Montreal a new franchise called the Concordes.

Hamilton 36, WINNIPEG 25 (27919) - The Ticat defense rattled QB Dieter Brock in the fourth when Hamilton outscored the Bombers 21-1. Gerald Bess scored the go-ahead TD on a 45-yard interception with 9:54 to go
Saskatchewan 25, CALGARY 19 - Calgary QB Bruce Threadgill took over in the second quarter, with the Stampeders leading 18-7. He hit on only three of 14 passes for 35 yard, and was benched for Gerry Dattillio too late.

Calgary 30, HAMILTON 12 - Larry Barker ran 62 yards with a pass to put Calgary ahead 19-11 at the 5:43 mark of the third quarter. The defense got five quarterback sacks, two interceptions, and blocked an attempted punt.

Winnipeg 32, EDMONTON 26 (57596) - The win was Winnipeg's first in Edmonton since 1977. The Bombers blew a 25-13 halftime lead by giving up 10 points in the third quarter. But the defense came on strong in the fourth.

CALGARY 30, Ottawa 19 (28038) - LB Danny Bass scooped up a Skip Walker fumble at his own 40-yard line and raced 40 yards down the sideline midway through the final quarter to lead the Stamps.

TORONTO 30, Edmonton 22 (37985) - The Eskimos cut a 22-4 half-time lead to 23-14, but their rally ended their. Offensively, the Argos racked up 393 yards. WR Terry Greer accounted for 177 yards with six catches and two TDs.

Calgary 30, BRITISH COLUMBIA 8 (26184) - The blitzing Calgary defense had six sacks. Stamps QB Bruce Threadgill came up with almost 375 yards. James Sykes got out of the doghouse with 116 yards rushing and three TDs.

WINNIPEG 27, Ottawa 20 (25904) - It was the fourth straight win for Winnipeg, who was without WR Eugene Goodlow and RB William Miller. Add in the announcement that coach Ray Jauch would be leaving for the USFL.
Toronto 20, BRITISH COL 19 - Condredge Holloway completed 18 of 33 passes for 260 yards and scrambled for 40 yards on five carries. He also passed for his 13th and 14th touchdowns. He had 12 all last year.

Winnipeg 36, SASKATCHEWAN 35 (30621) - Bomber QB Dieter Brock scored on a two-yard plunge with just over two minutes remaining and erased a five-point Saskatchewan advantage before a record crowd.

Calgary 32, EDMONTON 20 (33577) - QB Gerry Dattilio tossed a pair of TDs in the second half and scrambled 16 yards for another to down the Eskimos, who had lost head coach Hugh Campbell to the USFL during the week.
HAMILTON 28, Montreal 9 (17370) - TiCat QB Tom Clements completed 25 of 33 passes for 316 yards and three TDs. He spearheaded 413 yards in total offence, and also scored a 42-yard TD himself.

Calgary 15, WINNIPEG 11 (30119) - Calgary QB Gerry Dattillio completed 15 of 33 passes for 232 yards. The Stampeders also gained 149 yards along the ground, with James Sykes getting 119 on 15 carries and a TD.

MONTREAL 16, Saskatchewan 13 (14111) - Don Sweet kicked a 51-yard FG with 32 seconds for the win. Sweet's counterpart, Dave Ridgway, had booted a 49-yard FG at 6:06 of the fourth that pulled the Roughriders into a 13-13 tie.
EDMONTON 47, Ottawa 11 - QB Warren Moon ran for two TDs and passed for three others to spark Edmonton. The Eskimos led 11-7 at the half and a Gerry Organ FG cut the lead in the third quarter before Edmonton took over.

OTTAWA 38, Winnipeg 28 (17227) - RB Skip Walker scored two four-quarter TDs to lead Ottawa to the upset. The only quarter won by the Bombers was the third when they went ahead 28-21.
BRIT COL 36, Saskatchewan 32 (28513) - B.C. QB Roy Dewalt fired three TD passes in the first half, including two to rookie Mervyn Fernandez, who caught a 76-yard bomb from Dewalt in the second minute of the game.

EDMONTON 36, Calgary 17 - DT Dan Kearns' TD on a pass interception highlighted an exceptional Edmonton defensive performance that sparked the Eskimos. Five times they picked off Calgary passes.

Winnipeg 29, BRITISH COL 17 (31867) - The Bombers' defense registered seven quarterback sacks. After the Lions made it 29-17 on Larry Key's 55-yard TD run early in the second half, the Winnipeg defense went to work.

chances from within Hamilton's 14 to score a TD. Their best chance came when SB Pat Stoqua, who had six catches for 106 yards, dropped a TD pass.

EDMONTON 30, British Columbia 1 - Edmontontook advantage of B.C.'s weakness at quarterback to move into a tie for third place. The Lions were without Roy Dewalt and Joe Paopao played with a fractured left shoulder.

HAMILTON 24, Saskatchewan 24 (T) (17987) - Ticat K Bernie Ruoff missed two FG attempts in the fourth quarter and saw his punt with only two seconds left in the game kicked back out of the Roughrider end zone by Stew Fraser.
WINNIPEG 39, Toronto 35 (26129) - Argo coach Bob O'Billovich ordered an onside punt with the ball on Winnipeg's 29 and eight seconds left, but Winnipeg rover Paul Bennett, however, ended up with the ball and the win.

Winnipeg 29, TORONTO 16 (42830) - Winnipeg led 24-0 at the half, before Toronto produced its two touchdowns and two-point converts with less than six minutes left, when the game was well beyond reach.
CALGARY 55, Hamilton 48 (25720) - Darrell Moir scored on a interception return with only 69 seconds left to lift Calgary. The 103 points set a single game record. In 1956, Montreal beat Hamilton 82-14 for the old record.

Edmonton 33, WINNIPEG 17 - Warren Moon passed for 406 yards on 25 completions. Brian Kelly was his favored target, with 176 yards, but he spread the work around as the Esks moved closer to first place.

TORONTO 41, Saskatchewan 36 (30297) - Argo RB Cedric Minter wound up losing four yards on five carries, but produced three TDs, two via the air, while QB Condredge Holloway threw for 420 yards and ran 10 yards for a TD.

Ottawa 34, MONTREAL 32 - Skip Walker, the CFL's leading rusher, carried the ball 21 times for 113 yards and two TDs to pace the Rough Riders to the triumph that clinched the third and final playoff spot in the Eastern Division.
CALGARY 25, British Col 19 (31980) - With the score tied 19-19, J.T. Hay kicked a FG added another field goal with six seconds left, to give Calgary the win and clinch the final Western Division playoff berth.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 6
Toronto 28, OTTAWA 14 (25868) - The Riders jumped into a 6-0 lead on two Gerry Organ FGs before the Argos began to dominate and went on to win their first Eastern Division title since 1971.
BRITISH COL 32, Montreal 16 (15071) - In the final game at Empire Stadium, Roy Dewalt threw two TD passes to Mervyn Fernandez and scored himself on an 18-yard run as the Lions finished the season with a 9-7 record.
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7
HAMILTON 24, Winnipeg 21 (18162) - Tom Clements left the game in the first quarter, spitting blood, after breaking Dieter Brock's completions record. Dave Marler came in and knocked the Bombers out of the division title.
Edmonton 46, SASKATCHEWAN 22 - Brian Kelly caught three Warren Moon TD passes and Jim Germany rushed for two more as Edmonton won the West. Moon became the first CFL QB to pass for more than 5,000 yards.

CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS
Sun Nov 14 - Ottawa 30, HAMILTON 20 (20087) - The heavily favored Ticats squandered a 17-0 second- quarter lead and allowed Rider RB Skip Walker to roll up 253 yards. He established a CFL playoff-game rushing record, erasing George Reed's mark by 49 yards. Walker also scored a picturesque TD on a 14-yard romp in the fourth quarter.
Sun Nov 14 - WINNIPEG 24, Calgary 3 - The Bombers reached the division finals. The Bombers had the edge in total offense, 298 yards to 233, as Dieter Brock completed 13 of 22 passes for 255 yards. Gerry Dattilio was good on 23 of 42 for 163 yards for the Stamps.

CONFERENCE FINALS
Sunday, November 21 - TORONTO 44, Ottawa 7 (43432) - The Argos established their pre-eminence early, with a 53-yard TD pass from quarterback Condredge Holloway to Terry Greer at 5:19 of the first quarter. They led 19-0 at the end of the first, 29-0 at the half and 29-7 at the end of the third quarter and headed to the Grey Cup for the first time since 1971.
Sunday, November 21 - EDMONTON 24, Winnipeg 21 - Twice in the final seven minutes, Trevoe Kennerd missed FGs from inside the 45-yard line. In the end, those missed points were the margin of victory. Edmonton's offence was also erratic, but Warren Moon threw 47 yards to Brian Kelly for one TD and handed off to Neil Lumsden and Jim Germany for three-yard TD runs.


1982 GREY CUP GAME AT TORONTO (Sunday, November 28 -
EDMONTON ESKIMOS 32 Toronto Argonauts 16 - The game, played in awful conditions, started well for Toronto. After a Dave Cutler field goal, Emanuel Tolbert went 84 yards with a TD pass. The Eskimos replied with a Brian Kelly TD reception, but the Argos scored again, with a 10 yard pass to Terry Greer. With Toronto leading 14-10, Edmonton and Warren Moon (the game MVP) would not look back. Another TD pass to Brian Kelly and a Neil Lumsden TD rush, and 3 more Cutler field goals sealed the final Grey Cup victory for the CFL's greatest dynasty. Moon completed 21 of 33 passes for 319 yards, all the while having to throw in the freezing rain.
